Can an insurance company reject my claim?

Bad-faith insurance claims are a significant problem for consumers. They exist only because the insurance company does not want to pay out what it has expressly stated that it would given the correct circumstances.

People pay for insurance to make sure they're prepared for the unexpected in life. They pay for car insurance to protect against injury costs and damages to their vehicles in a collision. They pay for home insurance to cover losses in house fires or other situations. Insurance companies that take your money are supposed to provide benefits to you if those events take place.

Not all insurance companies are as honest as they should be and that causes problems. They may fail to fulfill their contracts, leaving you without the money you need and fighting a legal case you never expected.

If you are able to prove that an insurance provider is not fulfilling their obligation to you, then you can file a bad-faith insurance claim against them. This claim could help you get the benefits you need as well as additional compensation, such as punitive damages.

Do insurers have the right to reject your claim?

Yes, if the claim itself is not meeting the requirements for a payout. However, if it does, then the insurer does not have a right to reject the claim and must pay out in good faith. You, as a policyholder, have the right to expect fair payment when you make a legitimate claim. If your insurance carrier refuses to pay out, then it's a good idea to get in touch with your attorney.
